Alliant Students, Alumnus and Professor Rebecca Turner Attend San Francisco Mental Health Board's Awards Ceremony

San Francisco -- July 19, 2007

Members of the Alliant Community, including two students, USIU Alumnus Assemblyman Mervyn Dymally and Marshall Goldsmith School of Management Professor Rebecca Turner attended the San Francisco Mental Health Board’s (SFMHB) first-ever awards ceremony.  “It was a grand event -- an evening of local celebrities, state celebrities, and more. I have been on the MHB for 4 years and have chaired it for three years. This was a thrilling occasion because, as a Board

and as an organization, we have really grown and developed in our potential,” said Turner.

The keynote speaker was Mervyn Dymally, a California State Assemblyman and Alliant alumnus. He received his doctoral degree from United States International University, San Diego. Also in attendance were California School of Professional Psychology students Ann Tran and Brianna Fava.

In addition to the Awards Ceremony, the SFMHB also held two free showings of “The Bridge,” a film about depression and the Golden Gate Bridge, where more people end their life than any other place in the world. Alliant Staff Member Kevin Hines held a Q & A after the film to discuss its significance as well as the making of the film. The film was shown at Dolby Studies in SF as a courtesy to the MHBs and then subsequently at the Delancy Street studio.
