GSOE Dean Dr. Karen Webb selected for Scientists and Engineers Alternative Routes to Certification and Hiring (SEARCH) Advisory Committee

Sacramento – November 3, 2006 – Alliant’s Graduate School of Education’s Dean, Dr. Karen Webb has been selected to become a member of the prestigious SEARCH (Scientists and Engineers Alternative Routes to Certification and Hiring) Advisory Committee.

SEARCH is led by The Honorable Andrea Seastrand, former California Representative to the US House of Representatives, who is currently the Executive Director of the California Space Authority as well as California's delegate to the Aerospace States Association.

SEACH combines the efforts of Troops to Teachers with the efforts of NASA to recruit retiring scientists, engineers and mathematicians into the teaching profession for California's K-12 schools. Alliant has been selected as one of three teacher preparation programs to be partnered with this effort. 

“Dean Webb's role as an advisor to this effort is a clear statement of the respect and influence she has garnered in the State of California as one of its leading forces in higher education and among our state leaders in teacher preparation.  It is quite an impressive recognition of the high standards and program development she has assured for Alliant's Graduate School of Education,” said Trudy Day, Program Director for the Graduate School of Education.
