CSPP-LA Alumna Dr. Rose Clark Honored for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology by the American Psychological Association
Los Angeles – Mon., May 8, 2006 – Dr. Rose Clark, an alumna of the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University has been named the 2006 recipient of the American Psychological Association's Award for Distinguished Contributions to Psychology in the Public Interest (Early Career). Dr. Clark, a member of the Navaho Nation, graduated from CSPP in LosAngeles in 1998 with an emphasis in multicultural community clinical psychology. She is a licensed psychologist and the administrative clinical director for United American Indian Involvement Inc.'s Robert Sundance Family Wellness Center and the Ah No Ven (Healing) Home, which are substance abuse treatment programs for American Indian adults and youth residing in California. She is involved in administration, program development, research, teaching, and direct services for the American Indian community, and sits on numerious boards at the local, state, and federal levels advocating on behalf of issues directly affecting the American Indian population. Clark's dissertation was entitled "Multicultural Life Styles of Urban American Indians Living in Los Angeles County." CSPP Professor Ellin Bloch, PhD, who has served on and chaired the APA Board for the Advancement of Psychology in the Public Interest and also served on its Awards Committee, said, "This particular award represents an outstanding achievement of national professional recognition. I know that all of us across the University will share the pride I myself feel in the accomplishments of this fine graduate!"
