Marshall Goldsmith School of Management Professor Dr. Bernardo Ferdman Receives Outstanding International Scholar-Practitioner Award

 
 

December 7, 2006 – San Diego, CA -- On November 30, Alliant University Professor Dr. Bernardo Ferdman received the first Outstanding International Scholar-Practitioner Award, given to an outstanding and/or exceptional faculty member at the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management. The award recognizes Dr. Ferdman's contributions to a style of education in which faculty and students engage not only in scholarly pursuits, but also in the hands-on application of their professional knowledge -- as Dr. Ferdman did recently in work he did to support Alcoa Europe in developing the excellence of its leadership.

Dr. Ferdman received the award, given by the Goldsmith School and formally presented by Dr. Goldsmith himself, at a reception which took place at the Fairbanks Ranch home of Dr. Goldsmith and his wife Lyda Goldsmith

The event was attended by over 150 faculty, alumni, students, university administrators, business leaders, Goldsmith School "Thought Leaders" and guests.

Dr. Ferdman has over 20 years experience as a consultant, teacher, and writer on issues of diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion. He focuses on ethnic and cultural identity in organizations, Latinos/as in the workplace and organizational behavior and development.

Since coming to Alliant, Dr. Ferdman has helped the University maintain its international focus, and through his work and contributions continues to build and expand the University’s multicultural values and interests.

Dr. Ferdman has served as a Program Director (2000-2001) and led te Border Project/El Proyecto de la Frontera (1993-2000), an initiative designed to increase cross-border collaboration in behavioral science research, training, and service.

He has served as President of the Interamerican Society of Psychology, from 2001-03 and service as an officer from 1993 to 2005. He has also served as Chair of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division of the Academy of Management from 2004-2005, and as an officer from 2001 to 2006.

He has published over three dozen books, articles, and book chapters, made more than 95 national and international professional conference presentations in Argentina, Brazil, Guatemala, Peru, and Puerto Rico, and has conducted organizational and leadership development and coaching in Europe, particularly Spain. He is also a Charter Fellow of the International Academy for Intercultural Research (IAIR) and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. 

As a volunteer, Dr. Ferdman serves as co-chair of the San Diego Latino-Jewish Coalition, on the Board of Directors of the local chapter of the American Jewish Committee (AJC's), as a member of the AJC's national Engaging America Task Force and as a member of the board of AJC's Latino and Latin American Institute, based in Washington, DC.

Dr. Ferdman also served as Visiting Professor at Alliant’s Los Angeles Campus and currently serves as a Senior Consultant for the Organizational Consulting Center, located on Alliant’s San Diego Cornerstone campus.
