Aug. 2006- Alliant Student Antoinette Swayne-Kohlman Wins National Award from the American Sociological Association
 San Francisco, CA — August 18, 2006— Antoinette Swayne-Kohlman, a PhD student in Organizational Studies at the Marshall Goldsmith School of Business and Management Alliant International University in San Francisco, has received the national Student Practitioner Award from the Section for Sociological Practice of the American Sociological Association.
Ms. Swayne-Kohlman is a business performance consultant at State Farm Insurance, where she has worked since 1993. She has a BA in Sociology from Chatham College and a Masters in Human Resources and Organization Development from the University of San Francisco.
The award was presented at the 101th Annual Meeting of the American Sociological Association, which was held August 11-16, 2006 in Montreal.
The American Sociological Association (ASA), founded in 1905, is a non-profit membership association dedicated to advancing sociology as a scientific discipline and profession serving the public good. With nearly 14,000 members, ASA encompasses sociologists who are faculty members at colleges and universities, researchers, practitioners, and students.
The Section for Sociological Practice brings together sociologists whose main interests and work lie outside of academia. Members use social science knowledge and research to affect society and its institutions. Typically, members are involved in research and policy formation in medical care, government, large organizations, education, family policy, diversity, and aging, as well as consulting on international conflict management and organizational development.
