Introducing San Diego Commencement Speaker Dr. Pat DeLeon

 

 

San Diego, CA - April 19, 2007 -- On Friday, May 25, Dr. Pat DeLeon will address graduates at Spring Commencement on Alliant International University's San Diego campus.

One of the chief architects of the psychopharmacology movement for psychologists, Dr. DeLeon receive the American Society for the Advancement of Pharmacotherapy (Division 55) 2001 National Contributions to Pharmacotherapy Award. August, 2001.

He was the 2000 president of the American Psychological Association (APA) and winner of the American Psychological Association 2006 Raymond D. Fowler Award for Outstanding Contributions to APA. 2005 Presidential Citation.

Dr. DeLeon holds eight degrees including a MPH from the University of Hawaii and a J.D from The Columbus School of Law at Catholic University. In 1993 he received an honorary doctorate of psychology from CSPP followed by an honorary doctorate from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 1997 and a third honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from NOVA Southeastern University in 2001.

DeLeon now teaches at University of Hawaii’s Department of Psychiatry and School of Nursing and Widener University’s Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology. In 2007, he became an adjunct professor for Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences’ Graduate School of Nursing as well as Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing.

He currently lives in Maryland with his wife and two children.
