Health Center to Sponsor “Alcohol Awareness Week” at the San Diego Campus April 23-26
San Diego, April 3, 2007 — On April 23, Alliant-San Diego’s Health Center will kick off “Alcohol Awareness Week” as part of the University’s participation the Drug Free Schools and Campus campaign, which provides information about alcohol and other drugs to the Alliant Community. Alcohol Awareness Week will include symposia planned by CSPP Interim Dean and Professor Dr. Steven Bucky, CSPP Professor Dr. Martin Landau-North, Dr. Ann Larsen, and CSPP Professor Dr. Gary Lawson, who specializes in addiction. A police officer will also speak about legal aspects of drinking and driving. Discussion and educational forums will take place throughout the week. Movies will be shown and lunch will be served to those participating in the festivities. In addition, the Health Center will conduct an alcohol survey of the Alliant community at the outset of the week and report the results to the community at the end of the week. The planning committee for the week is comprised of individuals representing Student Life, housing, faculty, wellness center, and Alliant's neighbors at the English First program.
