San Diego Event to Introduce Rockway Institute For Immediate Release Media Contact: Rick Moore (415) 314-8952 rmoore.rockway@alliant.edu San Francisco - March 30, 2007 - An event to introduce the Rockway Institute to the San Diego LGBT community is scheduled for Thursday, April 12. The Institute, a think tank for LGBT research and public policy, is affiliated with the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. The reception - to be hosted by the Honorable Arthur J. Collingsworth and by San Diego State University Professors Oliva Espin and Esther Rothblum - will be held at the University Club Atop Symphony Towers, 750 B Street. At the event, Robert-Jay Green, Ph.D., Rockway executive director, will describe the mission and vision of the Institute and take questions. Prominent philanthropists, members of the mental health profession, attorneys, and other professionals from the San Diego area have been invited. “We believe that public opinion, policies, and programs should be shaped by the truth about LGBT lives, not by political ideology,” said Green. “Our most urgent objective is to refute propaganda from antigay groups by conveying accurate research information to the media, legislatures, and the courts. Our long-range goal is to educate the American public and improve public policy decisions that impact the lives of LGBT citizens.”
