Additional Information:

Dr. Fassinger’s primary research interests are in the psychology of women and gender, the psychology of work and career development, sexuality and sexual orientation, diversity and advocacy in the mental health arena, and the history of psychology.  She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) in three divisions: the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP), the Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Issues (SPSLGBI), and the Society for the Psychology of Women (SWP).  She also is a member of the Association for Women in Psychology, the Association for Psychological Science, and the National Career Development Association.  She has served on the editorial boards of both the Psychology of Women Quarterly and the Journal of Counseling Psychology and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Lesbian Studies and The Counseling Psychologist.  She is a selected instructor for the National Academy of Feminist Practice, served a term as Vice President for Scientific Affairs in SCP, currently is serving as President of SPSLGBI, and has held many other offices in professional organizations. 

Dr. Fassinger has received numerous awards for her scholarship, teaching, and professional contributions.  These include (in APA) the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Committee on Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Concerns, the Early Career Scientist-Practitioner Award from the SCP, and the Distinguished Contributions to Education and Training Award from SPSLGBI; she also has received the Outstanding Scientific Contributions to Psychology Award from the Maryland Psychological Association, the Kathryn Hopwood Alumni Award from the Ohio State University, and both the Lesbian Psychologies and Women of Color Psychologies Awards from the Association for Women in Psychology. 

Dr. Fassinger is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and maintains a psychotherapy and consultation practice specializing in issues related to gender, work, and sexuality.
