Dava Weinstein teaches Social Work Practice with Families at Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She received an M.S.W. from Fordham University School of Social Work in 1971.
Ms. Weinstein is a consultant to social service agencies and has a private practice. Areas of specialty include family therapy, addictions, and LBGT issues. She has published journal articles on these topics. Weinstein coauthored the Ackerman Institute training video Different Kinds of Love. |
She is the editor of Lesbians and Gay Men: Chemical Dependency Treatment Issues, Huntington Park Press, 1992.
Weinstein is co-founder with her partner of 32 years of the Bee Winkler Weinstein Fund, which benefits lesbian, bisexual women, and female identified transgender individuals, ages 18-25, whose own families have withdrawn emotional and/or financial support because of their sexual and/or gender identity. It promotes growth and self-sufficiency in young women by providing grants covering vocational/technical training, licensing fees, college application fees and the like.
