Carlton W. Parks, Jr., Ph.D. is a Professor and the Director of Training of the Programs in School Psychology and Educational Psychology in the Graduate School of Education at Alliant International University, Los Angeles. The intersection of professional psychology and education as it impacts the training of multiculturally competent child professionals and educators is a long-standing professional interest of Dr. Parks.
His professional activities have increasingly focused upon GLBT issues over the past decade. In particular, Dr. Parks has focused on the impact of sociocultural variables on the expression of sexuality among culturally and ethnically diverse GLBT populations across the life course.
Dr. Parks is an editorial board member of Journal of Child Sexual Abuse, PsycCRITIQUES : Contemporary Psychology : APA Review of Books, Canadian Journal of Queer Studies in Education, and Psychological Assessment : Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology (1991-1996). Additionally, he is currently an Ad Hoc Reviewer for a number of journals in professional psychology and sexology.
Dr. Parks is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association as well as of three of its divisions: Division 27 (Society for Community Research and Action), Division 9 (Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues) and Division 44 (Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues). He holds the Individual and Cultural Diversity Seat on the 32-member Commission on Accreditation (CoA) and is a member of their Executive Committee.
