Carl Auerbach received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He is currently a Professor of Psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology of Yeshiva University. At Ferkauf he is co-director with Dr. Louise Silverstein of the Yeshiva University fatherhood project, a qualitative research study of fathering from a multicultural perspective. In addition, he is the director of the International Center for Trauma Research and Treatment. He has published two books and many articles dealing with fatherhood, the psychology of trauma, and research methodology. With Dr. Silverstein he was awarded the year 2000 Distinguished publication award from the Association of Women in Psychology for their article in the American Psychologist titled Deconstructing the Essential Father. Also with Dr. Silverstein he was commended for outstanding research in 2001 by Division 51 (men and masculinity) of the American Psychological Association. He and Dr. Silverstein are currently working on a book on their research titled “The Future of Fatherhood.” |
