Welcome to the website for the Knowledge Competency Examinations ("COMPS") for the San Diego campus of Alliant International University. This section of the portal contains information relevant to:

• Dual PhD in Clinical Psychology/I-O Psychology students in San Diego

There are six COMPS. Each has an outline of material students should master and a recommended reading list. Click on the name of the exam to see the outline. Different programs have different requirements for the COMPS.

NOTE: The links on this page will download outlines of the requirements, but to see them you need to be an Alliant International University student, and you will need to be logged in to the student portal. If you click the link and come to the portal entry, rather than opening an attachment, you will need to log in to the student portal - use your Alliant email username and password to enter the portal. The COMPs page is located on the "Library and Academic Resources" tab under "San Diego Resources."

Examination Dates: COMPS are given three times a year, in January, June, and August. The next dates are:

• January 21-22, 2010:  
      Registration begins: December 17, 2009
      Registration ends: January 20, 2010
  
• June 3-4, 2010:  
      Registration begins: May 6, 2010
      Registration ends: June 2, 2010
  
• August 26-27, 2010:  
      Registration begins: July 29, 2010
      Registration ends: August 25, 2010

Register for the COMPS

You must register to take the exams, during the registration period that begins 4-6 weeks before each exam period AND ENDS AT 4:00 PM THE DAY BEFORE THE EXAMS. To register for the next COMPs, please contact Larissa Dizon: ldizon@alliant.edu or (858) 635-4641. IF YOU DO NOT REGISTER, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO TAKE THE EXAMS.

The COMPS are created by faculty and a faculty committee oversees the COMPS. A member of the staff (currently Larissa Dizon, who is also the Clinical PsyD administrative assistant) is in charge of administrative aspects of the exams. The exams are held in Daley Hall 312 and are administered via computer.

The Student Mentor Program also provides sessions that can help student prepare for the COMPS. These services are provided by students for students; faculty are not involved. You can find more information about the student mentor program in the student portal on the "Library and Academic Resources" tab under "San Diego Resources."
