Housing & Transportation
Campus Location
The Alliant Mexico campus is in a safe and attractive area known as Colonia Roma where there are many attractive early 20th century buildings. The area is developing as the cultural corridor of Mexico City, so students can enjoy visiting the nearby art galleries and cultural centers, as well as cafes, restaurants and theaters.
Transportation
Alliant Mexico is within a short walk of three subway stations, and a local bus passes several times each hour connecting passengers to major cross streets and subway stations. For students who bring their own car, Alliant/Mexico provides valet parking, and there are several public parking lots nearby. As part of New Student Orientation, students are provided with phone numbers for safe, reliable 24-hour taxi services.
VISAs
If you are NOT a Mexican citizen, please be advised that you will need to process a student VISA in your country of residence BEFORE travelling to Mexico. Click here for more detailed VISA information.
Housing Options
Alliant Mexico has no on-campus dormitories. Because finding permanent housing in Mexico City can be a lengthy and involved process, we recommend that students pursue Honestay and/or Youth Hostel options when they first arrive. The Student Services office is available to advise and assist students in making housing decisions and arrangements. The following options are available:
Homestays
Alliant Mexico can arrange for you to stay with Mexican families or in homes with “hostel-like” settings within walking distance of the campus. Costs vary between $250 dollars to $700 dollars per month, depending on the location, and whether or not some meals are included. For students who wish to practice their Spanish, this may be the ideal option. Many students remain in their honestays for the duration of their program.
Youth Hostels

Apartment Rentals
Apartment costs range from $400 to $1,000 dollars per month, depending on location, size, and whether they are furnished. Due to Mexican regulations, rental agreements must be finalized in person. Most apartment rental agreements require a co-signer to guarantee financial responsibility. Alliant cannot act as a co-signer. Individual situations can vary considerably.
Additional Living Costs
Living expenses can vary considerably between individuals. On average, students can calculate approximately $400 dollars a month for food and a minimum of $250 dollars for entertainment.
