Intern Prerequisites: To qualify for a GSPIA appointment, the applicant must be a student in good standing (preferably from an APA accredited psychology program) leading to a doctoral degree in clinical, forensic or counseling program.
All incoming student applicants must have the following minimum requirements:
- 350 hours of face-to-face contact hours, which include assessment and intervention.
- 800 practicum experience hours in settings appropriate for a doctoral level psychology student.
- Practicum experience must be acquired at two independent sites.
Applicants may be subject to pre-employment drug screening and health assessment. The application deadline is the 16th day of November. Applicants are encouraged to apply early as the agencies will be conducting applicant interviews at their earliest possibility.
Applications must include:
- Application Form. GSPIA is utilizing the standardized APPIC Application for Psychology Internships (AAPI) Online form which can be located at the APPIC website.
- Cover Letter: Include reason(s) you are requesting interview consideration for the agencies you have selected. Cover letters must state which site(s) you are applying to within each consortium.
- Curriculum Vitae. The Curriculum Vitae should include relevant data such as previous psychotherapy, assessment and other clinical experiences, educational achievements, research experience and publications.
- Transcripts. Official graduate transcripts should be included.
- 3 Letters of Recommendation. Letters should be written by doctoral level psychologists who have direct knowledge of the clinical training and qualifications of the applicant.
