Alumni Referral and Legacy Scholarships

Alumni Legacy = Annual Tuition Discount of 25%

As a way of thanking our alumni and encouraging the growth of Alliant International University, the University is offering scholarships to encourage sons, daughters and friends of our alumni to attend Alliant International University. Both international and domestic students are eligible. The scholars and professionals of the 21st century will need international perspective and cultural competence that an education at Alliant can deliver because of its diversified students, faculty, and locations.

Two types of scholarships are offered and described below.

Alumni Referral Scholarship Fund

The Alliant International University Alumni Referral Scholarship is an annual tuition grant of $1,000 that can run as long as four years and is awarded to an incoming student for full-time, continuous enrollment. The scholarship will be given in the name of the alumnus or alumna who refers the student. The scholarship will be offered beginning with the fall semester of 2007. It will run through the spring semester of 2010 and can be extended with approval from the Alliant President. Students enrolled in half-time will be granted a $500 annual scholarship.

Alumni Legacy Scholarship Fund

The Alliant International University Alumni Legacy Scholarship is offered to immediate family members of those who graduated from Alliant, USIU, CSPP, Cal Western or Balboa College. This scholarship offers an annual 25% discount on tuition to a student who is continuously enrolled in full time studies. The scholarship will be offered beginning with the fall semester of 2007. It will run through the spring semester of 2010 and can be extended with approval from the Alliant President.

Who are Alumni for the Alumni Referral and Legacy Scholarships?

For the purpose of the alumni referral and legacy scholarships the referring alumni must have earned a degree from Alliant International University or from one of the former legacy institutions. (Balboa College, California Western University, California School of Professional Psychology, and United States International University)

Criteria for the Alumni Referral and Legacy Scholarships:

1.  The intent of both scholarship programs is to provide an incentive for alumni to be involved in the university.
2.  The referral process for both scholarships must be initiated by alumni.
3.  Alumni may refer up to 3 prospective students each year.
4.  The scholarships are only effective upon the student being accepted by the various schools at Alliant.
5.  Students being referred must be starting as new students beginning the Fall semester 2007.
6.  All referrals must be sent to the Director of Alumni Relations for approval before the scholarship can be awarded.

How to Submit Names of Prospective Students

Click the link in the gold box at right. It leads to an application form for both the Legacy and Referral Scholarships. Alumni will be invited to submit names of students that have made a commitment to enroll at Alliant International University after having been referred by the alumnus or alumna. Forms will be electronically sent to the Director of Alumni Relations, who will communicate and coordinate enrollment and referrals with the Admissions and Financial Aid office.

The Alliant Connect online community and the Alumni webpage will include a list of alumni scholarships and the students bearing their scholarship name(s). Names of alumni who are affiliated with the scholarships will appear on a dedication wall at a location to be determined. Alumni will also receive yearly updates from the alumni office on the students who they have sponsored.
