The Office of International Student Services provides services and programs that promote and support the international experience at Alliant. One of the many important functions of the department is to ensure that students acquire the appropriate immigration status to study in the US, and to provide assistance according to the federal guidelines of the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, formerly known as "INS," Immigration and Naturalization Services) and the US Department of Education.
We provide advising and counseling services for international students. Whether you have a personal, immigration, financial, academic, or legal problem, we are available to help you. Sometimes you may simply want to talk to someone. We understand and we are here for you whenever you need us.
Our office organizes various special seminars and programs on international cultures. These seminars are open to the public. Furthermore, we sponsor lectures and friendship luncheons with community organizations.
Students are encouraged to participate in Alliant-sponsored international activities. One of our most popular events is the annual International Friendship Festival sponsored by the Alliant student clubs. If you have a traditional costume from your home country, please bring it along to wear at the Festival or at other cultural events that are held throughout the year.
