With a focus on domestic U.S. politics and foreign policy, this program allows students to theorize conceptualize and analyze both domestic and world politics. Once completed, students may seamlessly transition to the Master of Arts in International Relations through the Marshal Goldsmith School of Management (MGSM).

With this degree, career options include the U.S. Foreign Service, government and politics. Other careers in the non-profit sector, political journalism, or working abroad for multinational corporations are also a possibility.

Diversity is significant in the International Relations program-there are students and faculty from countries all over the world. This results in a diversity of viewpoints and perspectives, and creates exciting discussions. Small class sizes allow for close student/faculty interaction. Alliant professors find time not only to guide students in their work, but also discuss career goals and objectives. There is a real interest on the part of professors in the professional success of Alliant students.  This commitment to student achievement gives Alliant international relations students an edge.

Living abroad is also part of the international relations program. Students have the opportunity to study abroad at Alliant’s Mexico City campus and to pursue part of their coursework at this campus.

Students may take two graduate courses in International Relations when they are undergraduates. The course in which the higher grade is earned may be also counted in the MGSM Master of Arts in International Relations program, leaving 27 units of graduate work to complete the master’s degree.
