Hotel and Restaurant Management (BS) - San Diego campus
Program Overview Complete the Hotel and Restaurant Management bachelors degree program at Alliant International University and you’ll be ready with the technical skills and an appreciation for differences in people that are needed to succeed in the exciting hospitality industry. The curriculum for this program, which is offered on Alliant's Scripps Ranch Campus in San Diego, was developed in close consultation with professionals in the hotel and restaurant industry, those who have an intimate knowledge of what is needed in that field. Thus, you can be confident that your preparation will be thorough and up-to-the-minute, in line with realities out in this ever-growing and ever-changing field. To gain work experience you will complete 1000 hours of work experience in the hospitality industry. Some students work part-time during the school year, while others work during the summer. International students have the option to apply for a one-year practical experience in the United States after graduation, a valuable opportunity is valuable to gain work experience in the United States before returning to their home country. Although the Hotel and Restaurant Management is not available on Alliant’s campus in Mexico City, students have the option, and are strongly encouraged, to spend a semester taking coursework at Alliant's Mexico City Campus. Students who receive financial aid are able to transfer their aid arrangements to cover their stay in Mexico City. Curriculum Overview The BS in Hotel and Restaurant Management will prepare you for a highly rewarding career in the hospitality industry. Courses in the program provide you with a liberal and intercultural education; an understanding of business, management, information systems and technology, and the overall dynamics of organizations; skill in critical thinking; and competence in interpersonal, oral, written, quantitative and computer skills. In the curriculum, there is an emphasis on practical applications. The total units required for this bachelor’s degree are 120 semester units. I have enjoyed Alliant very much because it gives one the opportunity to build close relationships with students and teachers. Classes are small and create a great learning environment. Minors A flexible minor program in any of the six undergraduate majors offered on Alliant's San Diego Campus through the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management Division of Business and Management may be developed in consultation with an academic advisor. Minors are also available in any undergraduate major offered in other departments at Alliant International University.
