The World Council of Curriculum and Instruction - part of GSOE's International Outlook

The World Council of Curriculum and Instruction (WCCI) is an international organization that is housed at the Graduate School of Education (GSOE) at Alliant International University.

The World Council of Curriculum and Instructions is an NGO (non-governmental organization) of the United Nations. Because of its emphasis on curriculum, it has been housed in schools of education based on where the Executive Director has tenure. Some of the institutions where it has been housed have included Columbia University, Indiana University and the University of Cincinnati.

The current executive director is Dr. Estela C. Matriano, GSOE a faculty member at the San Diego Campus. Dr. Matriano serves on the educational leadership faculty and specializes in global studies and cross-cultural studies.

In addition to having access to Dr. Matriano, our students benefit from have access to international curriculum materials to enrich and enhance their knowledge base of curriculum because the UN sends curriculum materials from all over the world to the WCCI.  In addition, WCCI publishes an international journal that is housed at Alliant.

WCCI also funds special projects in conjunction with Alliant: for example, they hosted an international scholar’s luncheon with Alliant faculty in San Diego. Various symposia and seminars that are of interest to the international education community are also co-sponsored by WCCI and Alliant.
