A. COMMUNICATION IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CRITICAL THINKING
     Student must complete one course from A1, one course from A2, and one course
     from A3.
     A1. Oral Communication
            Interpersonal Communication, Public Speaking, Intercultural Communication,
            Small Group Communication, Argumentation/Debate
     A2. Written Communication
            College Composition
     A3. Critical Thinking
            Advanced Composition: Critical Reasoning and Writing

B. PHYSICAL UNIVERSE AND ITS LIFE FORMS
     Students must complete 2 courses from B1 and one course from B2.
     B1. Physical and Life Sciences
            Astronomy, Chemistry, Geography, Geology, Oceanography, Physical 
            Science, Physics, Physical Anthropology, Biology
     B2. Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning
            Mathematics for General Education, Elementary Mathematics, Elementary 
            Statistics, Analytic Trigonometry, College Algebra, Precalculus, Calculus, 
            Analytic Geometry and Calculus, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra, 
            Differential Equations

C. ARTS, LITERATURE, PHILOSOPHY, AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES
     Student must complete 3 courses: One course from C1, one course from C2,  
     and one more course from either C1 or C2.
     C1. Arts
            Art Appreciation, Drawing, Ceramics, History of Western Art, Non-Western
            Art History, Modern Art, Two-Dimensional Design, Three-Dimensional 
            Design, History of Photography, Contemporary Art History, Cross-Cultural 
            Studies (Art), Dance, Music, Media Communication, Religious Studies, 
            Intro to Theatre, History of Theatre, Principles of Humanities
     C2. Humanities
            American Sign Language, Foreign Language, Intercultural Communication,
            Fundamentals of Oral Interpretation, Readers Theatre, Interracial 
            Communication, Literature, Poetry, Philosophy, Theatre Arts, Humanities, 
            Cultural History (Chicano History, Japanese History, etc), Native Language 
            (Spanish for the Native Speaker, etc.), World History, Western Civilization

D. SOCIAL, POLITICAL, AND ECONOMIC INSTITUTIONS AND BEHAVIOR
     Students must complete 3 of the following courses (no more than two courses 
     from the same area):
     Anthropology, Archeology, Economics, Ethnic Studies, Gender Studies, 
     Geography, History, Sociology, Family Studies, Child Growth & Development, 
     Cross-Cultural Studies, Psychology, Criminology

E. US HISTORY, CONSTITUTION, AND AMERICAN IDEALS
     Students must complete 2 courses, one from E1 and one from E2.
     E1. US History
     E2. US History, California History or US Government & Politics

F. LIFELONG UNDERSTANDING AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT
    Students must complete one course from the following areas:
    Health Education, Family Studies, Human Sexuality, Development, Learning
