Internship Program

The internship program at the CUE is developed to guide students through their culminating internship experience. It is responsible for ensuring the high quality of the internship experience for all of students so that they gain the appropriate skill sets and acquire real world knowledge of their chosen fields.

The program aims to maximize student learning by establishing a unified bridge between internship sites, internship program supervisors and the student. On entering the program, students are assigned to a CUE faculty internship supervisor who, in collaboration with internship site supervisors, ensures that they accomplish their established internship objectives. More specifically, the internship program:

• gives students access to an extensive database with pre-approved internship sites appropriate for their program or career goal,
• provides necessary preparation for successful internship placement through one-on-one and group coaching,
• monitors internship sites to ensure they meet the specified criteria established by the CUE, including phone contacts and site visits,
• evaluates the performance of the intern during and at the completion of the internship experience,
• maintains accurate documentation and information on internship sites to ensure that future interns receive valuable internship experiences, and
• fosters long term relationships with community organizations willing to mentor students as they develop both professionally and personally.
