Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides Alliant students with resources to help them complete their academic programs at the highest achievement level. The ASC is located on the San Diego campus in buildings M-7 and M-8.

ASC staff members provide the following programs and services:

  • The Writing Lab offers students opportunities to meet with friendly tutors willing to guide them through the process of analyzing a text and/or successfully completing a written task.
  • The Math Lab provides tutoring services to assist students enrolled in beginning to advanced algebra, statistics, and business math.
  • The Technology Lab has 12 computers with office productivity software and tutorials on mathematics and writing as well as access to the Internet and Alliant Library databases.
  • The Student Orientation Program assists transfer students in making a smooth transition to Alliant’s San Diego campus and introduces them to academic support and other university services.

The ASC also operates an Early Warning Program to identify at-risk undergraduate students who are having difficulty in their courses.

The ASC staff has prepared a detailed collection of handouts to assist students with writing, critical thinking and information literacy skills, as well as study and computer skills. Also, an ASC newsletter is published periodically for students and faculty.

The ASC was established in 2003 through a Title V grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The ASC works closely with the Teaching and Learning Institute which assists Alliant faculty in the creative and effective use of both new and traditional educational methods and tools.

Commitment, Perseverance, and Success are the bywords of the ASC. A positive college experience for all students is the ASC staff’s goal.
