CSPP alumni are leaders in every aspect of psychology. CSPP alumni and faculty spearheaded the passing of 2004 Louisiana law that enables properly trained psychologists to prescribe drugs for mental health uses and the CSPP post-doctoral master of science program in clinical psychopharmacology is providing training needed for psychologists in rural and underserved areas throughout the nation. CSPP Professor Kumea Shorter-Gooden and co-author Charisse Jones, a reporter for USA Today, won the 2004 American Book Awards for their book Shifting: The Double Lives of Black Women in America. CSPP faculty are leaders in the field of violence prevention, publishing major journals and convening national conferences. CSPP’s Japanese Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology Program is the nation's first master's program in clinical psychology offered in Tokyo, Japan and taught in Japanese. The program has a child and family focus and involves CSPP faculty from the US. CSPP, in partnership with the School of Continuing and Professional Education, City University of Hong Kong, offers the first US-based clinical psychology doctoral program in Hong Kong.
