Applying to the Hong Kong PsyD Program

Entrance Requirement

To be admitted, students must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university with a major in psychology or a related field and 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or equivalent. Qualified applicants who hold a Master’s Degree in Psychology or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline (e.g. educational psychology, clinical psychology, counseling, social work) would normally receive 9-12 credits towards the Clinical PsyD.

Completed application form and application fee of HK$600 in the form of a crossed cheque made payable to “City University of Hong Kong” should be sent to the School of Continuing and Professional Education on or before the application deadline. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview.

Please send a reference form to each of the two named references and ask that it be completed and sent to School of Continuing and Professional Education, City University of Hong Kong.

Notification of the Application Result

Successful applicants will be informed by mail or by phone. Please notify SCOPE if you do not receive the results within a month after submission of your application.

Use of Application Information

The information that you provided in the application will be used for the following purposes:

As a basis for various types of processing in relation to your application;
As a basis for selection of applicants for admission and other relevant or related purposes;
For obtaining from the relevant institutions information about your candidacy for studies in institutions in Hong Kong and elsewhere;
For transferring to student record system of the University upon successful outcome of your application;
In accordance of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, you have the right to access to, and correction of, the information contained in the application form, and the right to request a copy of such data. If you wish to obtain more information, please write to the School of Continuing and Professional Education.

Fees

Application Fee: HK$600 (non-refundable)
Program Fees:
HK$4,000 per credit (except internship & practicum)
HK$2,400 per credit (internship & practicum)
Year 1: HK$96,000
Year 2 & 3: HK$110,400 (each year);
Year 4: HK$96,000
(Fees will be charged on 2 installments each year)
Credit Transfer Assessment Fee: HK$1,500 per course (non-refundable)
Caution Money: HK$400, payable upon admission

Students will pay additional fees for direct individual supervision to their supervisors during internship and practicum.

Education Loan

Successful applicants are eligible to apply for the Government’s Non-means Tested Loan Scheme. Application forms are obtainable from each District Office and the Student Financial Assistance Agency (SFAA).
