During the last decade, there has been a significant rise in pharmacological treatments and the integration of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy for mental disorders such as schizophrenia, major depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, eating disorders and sleep disorders. Research in recent years has focused increasingly on biochemical factors in mental illness, and psychologists are working more closely with physicians in providing treatment. As a result, psychologists need enhanced knowledge and skills in the field of clinical psychopharmacology.
The California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University has been a leader in preparing psychologists to meet these challenges, not only by providing psychopharmacology training, but also by educating our peers in the profession. As part of that effort, we invite you to take a survey on legislation granting prescriptive authority for appropriately trained psychologists. You are also welcome to forward the web link from this page and invite others to also take this survey.
