November 10, 2009-The President of the International Association of Forensic and Correctional Psychology recognizes CSFS Fresno student Robin Rainwater for her APA poster presentation (Aug. 2009). More.

June 5, 2009- CSFS students Celesta and Blake Harris, Krystal Brians, Stephanie Waldenmaier, Stephanie Starnes, Nicole Mantegna, Kristen Wheldon, Elena Lopez, Barry Chong, and Chrissie Brewer all completed the first CSFS program in Rome. The program is coordinated by Dr. Pasquale Striano, a police officer with the Direzione Investigativa Antimafia.

 

June 27, 2008- Incoming Fresno student Staff Sergeant William D. Kammerer is named 2008 Airman of the Year by the California National Guard. Staff Sergeant Kammerer is a satellite, wideband and telemetry systems journeyman. He volunteered for duty in Iraq and was selected three times for airborne missions--and was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal.

 

June 6, 2008- Newsweek.com is working with CFS Director Eric Hickey, Ph.D. and CFS students Candace Caro, Jon Kingi, Alvin Lae, Ph.D., Seaira Reedy, M.S., and Ryan Solomon M.A. on a story about the history of American serial killers. Look for it on Newsweek.com soon.

 

May 27, 2008- The International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services announces its concurrent sessions schedule for their 8th Annual Conference in Vienna, Austria this July. The IAFMHS has accepted six papers from CFS students--look for them in the schedule! The students are: Shiloh Cantanese, M.A., Samantha James, M.A., Rose Jung, M.A., Anna Belisa Kafka, M.A., Natalie Lindemann, M.A., Avetis Topchyan, M.A., Hilary Tryttan, M.A., and Sammie Williams, Psy.D. CFS faculty members Drs. Robert A. Leark, Sherry Skidmore and Bill Holcomb are co-presenters.

 

May 5, 2008-- Fresno CFS Students Stephanie Starnes and Bethany Raines have been selected by the Center for Public Policy of the Czech Ministry of the Interior to attend the Summer School on Crime, Law, and Psychology 2008 in Prague, Czech Republic this July.

 

The Forensic Mental Health Association of California provided two of three conference scholarships to L.A. CFS students Tiffany Stuer and Karin Thebus.

 

Forensic Psychology Psy.D. student Michelle Wright had an article published in Neuromodulation: Journal of the International Neuromodulation Society. Drs. Philip Corrado and Burton Alperson are co-authors. The article is in Volume 11, No. 2, April 2008.

 

Avetis Topchyan, a Forensic Psychology Psy.D. student at the L.A. campus presented research at APA's Division 41: American Psychology-Law Society conference in March 2008. Drs. Leark and Skidmore are co-presenters.

 

Dr. Sarah Van Vulkenburgh is one of the nation's premier experts on critical incident stress. A 2007 graduate of CFS' Fresno program, Dr. Van Vulkenburgh wrote the most comprehensive analysis of what happens to police officers after a shooting.
