Guadalupe is a first generation Chicana of Mexican descent. She is the oldest of four and the first to go to college. Corona received a bachelor’s in Mexican American Studies with a Minor in Women Studies at San Diego State University and received her master’s in Leadership Studies (Thesis topic: Soulful Chicana Voices in Leadership) from the University of San Diego. She expects to complete her doctorate by June of 2008.

Guadalupe has a history of activism in the Latina/o community by serving on various committees: the Latino-Jewish Dialogue with the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation League Hispanic Outreach Committee, V-me (KPBS), the Hispanic Heritage Youth Scholarship Awards (Chair, Academic Scholarship Committee), the Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Committee of San Diego and the MLK Jr. All People’s Breakfast Planning Committee (Chair, Media Committee). She is a member of various community groups such as the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, San Diego MANA, and the National Society of Hispanic MBA’s.
