Summary: The Academic Director for MGSM-Mexico City will be responsible for the academic quality and integrity of Mexico City courses and programs and will work with administrative and marketing staff to increase student enrollments. The Director operates under the general direction of the Associate Dean of the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management (Business Management and International Studies Divisions), who is located in San Diego. The Director will oversee faculty (including adjunct faculty), and help recruit new faculty as authorized by San Diego. The Directorship may include a faculty appointment, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and interests. There will be instructional and faculty duties as appropriate and needed. Located in Mexico City, the successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of Alliant International University. S/he will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant International University’s Mission and Vision. Alliant International University (www.alliant.edu) grew from the 2001 merger of United States International University and the California Schools of Professional Psychology, and includes graduate schools of Psychology, Education, and Management. In 2006 Alliant’s management school was named for famed executive coach Marshall Goldsmith. MGSM has the US’ largest graduate program in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and (due to the late strategy expert Igor Ansoff’s presence on the faculty) outstanding strengths in corporate strategy studies. In addition to the Mexico City campus, Alliant has six campuses in California and a number of international outreach programs. MGSM offers the MA in International Relations and the Master of International Business Administration at the Mexico City campus, as well as a number of undergraduate programs. The Mexico City campus offers outstanding opportunities for students to study these subjects in one of the world’s great cities, with an international student body, in the English language, at lower cost than in the US. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Oversee all MGSM academic programs in the Mexico City location. Ensure that programs offered at MGSM-Mexico City, when the same program is offered at other Alliant campuses, are uniform across campuses in course offerings and academic quality.
- Work closely and collaboratively with the other schools and centers of Alliant International University (as these are represented in Mexico City) and with partner and supplier organizations.
- Oversee all teaching and faculty matters related to MGSM programs taught in this location, including all faculty working in this location, and the efficient scheduling of course offerings.
- Grow programs (including new ones as appropriate) rapidly.
- Work closely with the Curriculum Committee and the Associate Dean to assure that academic policies are applied in a manner consistent with Alliant’s Faculty Handbook.
- Suggest and help plan new offerings. Work closely with the Dean and Associate Dean concerning the collaborative offering of existing and new business, management, and international studies programs in Mexico City, including executive programs.
- Oversee the Study Abroad programs offered in Mexico City.
Requirements: Advanced degree required. Earned doctorate in management-related or international relations area highly desirable. Experience in academic administration highly desirable. Other responsible management experience may be considered. Intercultural communication and management skills are essential. We seek a Director with strong “people” skills and advanced planning and budgeting skills. Marketing experience is a must. The Director should be able to knowledgeably plan and supervise acquisition and use of innovative classroom technologies. Ideally, the Director is strongly tied to Mexico City’s business and diplomatic communities. Business/academic connections elsewhere in Latin America are a plus. Travel is required. Candidate should have visa that allows frequent and easy entry to the United States.
