Title: Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reports To: CFO
Hours: 9:00 AM- 5:00PM
Summary:
Assist the President, CFO, and AVP Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis and the Budget and Finance Committee in providing guidance to and review of the financial affairs of the University. Assist Senior Management to translate the elements of the Strategic Plan into financial and operational components and in setting goals and targets for operational and financial performance. Periodically assess risks and identify areas of opportunity to help attain the University’s financial goals.
The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing quality service to all constituencies of Alliant. S/he must possess the interpersonal and customer service skills to interact effectively with both system and campus personnel. S/he will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of AIU's Mission and Vision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the AVP Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, in providing input, analysis and updates to the Budget and Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees;
- Provides analysis and guidance on proposed mergers, joint ventures and other business investments;
- Provides competitor analysis and benchmark the University’s performance internally and externally;
- Facilitates decision making through the development of financial and analytical models using internal and external data;
- Coordinates with the President, CFO, AVP Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Deans and Program Directors in the development of financial models for new program initiatives;
- Assists the CFO in the development and implementation of the University’s Business/Strategic planning and performance management process;
- Provides monthly management reports to senior management for specific areas as assigned;
- Other duties as required by the President, CFO and AVP Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent, MBA preferred.
Experience: Minimum six year’s prior finance experience, preferably in a University setting. Demonstrated competence of forecasting, financial modeling, cost analysis, budgeting and general accounting principles with strong analytical and problem solving capabilities. Strong interpersonal, written and presentation skills.. Demonstrated experience interacting with Senior Management.
Technical: Experience with complex, integrated business software systems, CARS/Jenzebar experience preferred. Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) and 10-key by touch.
Experience with developing complex financial models.
Supervisory: Directly supervise a staff of 2-3 employees performing diverse job functions.
Status: Full-time, Exempt
