Title: Adjunct Faculty positions
Department: CSPP- PhD/PsyD San Francisco
Reports To: Program Director, CSPP San Francisco
Hours:
Summary: Thank you for your interest in adjunct teaching possibilities at the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP), which is now a Division of Alliant International University, San Francisco Campus. If your application meets our initial selection criteria, you will be interviewed for an adjunct faculty position. The initial selection criteria include: (a) a doctoral degree in psychology or a related field from an accredited university; (b) postdoctoral experience relevant to teaching the specific subject matter of the courses you selected on the application form; (c) licensure as a psychologist in California if your courses would involve case material; and (d) prior teaching/supervision experience preferred (with documentation such as copies of standardized teaching evaluations from students if available; or a letter from the program director or Dean if you have previously taught elsewhere).
After the interview, you will be notified as to whether and what specific courses in our curriculum you were approved to teach. For those courses, you will be put in the "pool" of potential instructors whom we will call when an opening for that course occurs. We try to have at least 2-3 adjunct instructors approved for each course because of the complicated scheduling of courses each semester. Often the instructors we would like to hire are not available at the particular time of week during the particular semester we need them. The more flexible you can be in terms of times of the week you can teach, the more likely you will be hired when an opening occurs.
Openings for specific courses tend to occur when the current instructor is not able to continue teaching it for various reasons, or cannot teach at the time we need to offer the course, or when a core faculty member takes a sabbatical or family leave, or a certain course becomes very popular and we need to offer more sections of it. Thus, there is no guarantee that you would be hired to teach a course even if you were approved to do so. However, it is quite likely that at some point, you would be asked to teach one or more courses for which you were approved.
If you relocate and wish to remain in the pool of approved instructors, please be sure to notify us of your new contact information (especially new email address and phone numbers).
We are currently looking for instructors for the following positions for the Fall 2008-Spring 2009 Semesters:
· Intercultural Awareness Development
· Advanced Psychopathology
· Introduction to Professional Psychology
· Psychodiagnostic Assessment
· Advanced Clinical Seminar
Thank you again for your interest, and I look forward to receiving your materials.
Sincerely,
Tarmia Lowe
Coordinator, Academic Affairs/PsyD Program
