Title: Development Coordinator

Department: Institute on Violence Abuse and Trauma (IVAT)

Reports To: President of IVAT or person designated by President

Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Summary:

The Development Coordinator, under the general direction of the President of IVAT or person designated by him will execute development and marketing strategies for the Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma (IVAT).

 

The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of Alliant International University’s IVAT. S/he will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant International University’s Mission and Vision.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Development Coordinator will:

  1. Increase the visibility of IVAT, its conferences and activities with prospective funders
  2. Organize conference and other development opportunities, including sponsorship levels and silent auction
  3. Market IVAT conferences and other trainings to prospective registrants in a timely manner
  4. Initiate an annual giving campaign as well as other fund raising events and activities
  5. Develop, submit, and follow through with grant proposals on behalf of IVAT
  6. Oversee the IVAT mailing lists
  7. Update the IVAT website as appropriate
  8. Create collateral material in support of development and marketing strategies
  9. Identify media relations opportunities and draft related media advisories and/or releases.
  10. Ensure distribution of media advisories/releases, pitch to the media, and track all coverage (includes traditional and non-traditional media).
  11. Coordinate and track all related invoices and expenditures for this department
  12. Track all related ROI (return on investment), including the collection of supporting data
  13. Other duties as assigned



Requirements:

Education:

 

Bachelor’s Degree required in Mental Health, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Business or related fields. Person with a Masters degrees in one of these fields is preferred.  

Experience:

 

Five-plus years of progressively more responsible experience in the development, marketing, public relations or communications field. Nonprofit experience preferred.

Supervises:

May supervise Marketing and Events Coordinator or other staff as deemed appropriate

Technology Skills:

 

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook



Status: Full-time, Exempt
