Title: Coordinator of Certification and Continuing Education Programs
Department: Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma
Reports To: Dr. Robert Geffner
Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Summary: The Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma (IVAT) strives to be a comprehensive resource, training and research center dealing with all aspects of violence, abuse and trauma. IVAT interfaces with Alliant International University’s academic schools and centers, which provide resource support and educational training. Through a focus on collaborations with various partnering organizations, IVAT desires to bridge gaps and help improve current systems of care on a local, national, and global level. IVAT is a continuing education provider for psychologists (APA), National Certified Counselors (NBCC), Marriage and Family Therapists (MFT, Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Nurses, Substance Abuse Counselors, and Attorneys. The Coordinator of Certification and Continuing Education Programs (CCCEP) will plan and develop accredited certification programs and trainings for IVAT’s focus areas: a) Children Exposed to Violence b) Child Maltreatment Victims and Offenders c) Adult Survivors of Child Maltreatment d) Sexual Assault Victims e) Sexual Assault Offenders f) Trauma g) At Risk Youth The Coordinator of Certification and Continuing Education Programs will develop new certification programs within IVAT for the above, and will oversee the continuing education and certification programs once they are developed. This person will also work with IVAT’s Coordinator of Professional Training to develop new trainings that meet accreditation requirements for professionals and practitioners. The CCCEP will oversee the logistics of new and existing trainings and certification programs for IVAT. The Coordinator will also review and approve specific trainings from collaborating organizations and agencies for mental health, legal and nursing professionals. The Coordinator must have working knowledge of professional training workshops. The Coordinator also must have working knowledge of the mental health professional continuing education process. The ideal candidate has a background in training development, nonprofits, and/or experience in or knowledge of the social science and mental health field, as well as certification programs. The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of Alliant University. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Certification and Continuing Education Programs - A. Logistics and Planning
- 1. Develop and implement certification programs for IVAT’s focus areas.
- 2. Assist in the ongoing management of the pre-designed certification programs, including the monitoring of those certified, processing and renewal of applications for each certification program.
- 3. Plan and manage trainings designed for the Certification programs, including developing and updating files and records, generating reports, and maintaining budgets.
- 4. Following established procedures, verify, produce and distribute Certificates of Completion for attendees on site or post event.
- 5. Oversee the development of Advisory and Oversight Boards for the certification programs.
- 6. Ensure all procedures are followed and adhered to in the co-sponsorship of continuing education events as detailed in the Department Manual, including responding to current accrediting continuing education boards with requested information, which may include reports, evaluations, and attendance rosters. Meet approved deadlines.
- 7. Invoice continuing education fees to appropriate individuals and or agencies.
- 9. Review and approve specific trainings for different mental health, legal and nursing professionals.
B. Reporting 1. Maintain accurate files and records for each accrediting continuing education board for reporting and auditing purposes, including invoices, evaluations, and quarterly reports.
Requirements: | Education: | Master’s degree strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience | | Professional Designation: | | | Experience: | Three years experience in related field, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training. Experience in or knowledge of the social science and mental health field (i.e., psychology, social work, human development, criminal justice) is a plus. | | Management Skills: | 1. Working knowledge of professional training workshops. 2. Working knowledge of continuing education processes. 3. Ability to effectively interface with the public within an organization at all professional levels, including staff. 4. Ability to effectively communicate and accurately articulate verbally, in writing and electronically. 5. Ability to successfully work individually and as a team member. 6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with attention to detail. 7. Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and maintain a productive workload. 8.
