Title: Associate Provost for Pedagogy/Quality Assurance

Department: Academic Affairs

Reports To: Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs

Hours: Half time

Summary:

The Associate Provost for Pedagogy/Quality Assurance (QA), reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, will work to develop and maintain on-going quality assurance mechanisms for the effective teaching/training of professional practitioners in business, education, psychology and forensics. Quality assurance mechanisms for doctoral dissertations/projects will also be developed and maintained by the individual, including oversight of the dissertation-related work of the Academic Affairs Coordinators on the campuses where those positions exist. The Associate Provost for Pedagogy/QA will additionally help facilitate the implementation of professional practice competencies into the various curricula at Alliant International University. This will include coordination with the International Multicultural Initiatives program (I-MERIT) for purposes of implementing the multicultural-international competencies as part of the professional practice competencies. The Associate Provost of Pedagogy/QA will also help facilitate implementation of a systematic program review process throughout the University. Once implemented, s/he will work in collaboration with the Deans and Program Directors throughout the University to monitor, support and maintain the on-going program review process.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Oversee quality assurance and teaching/training effectiveness activities for the Provost/VPAA’s Office and acts as liaison to the Deans and Program Directors to support system-wide quality assurance mechanisms.

·        Provide leadership for strategic planning in all areas of responsibility.

·        Works in collaboration with the Director for I-MERIT to implement and support professional practice competencies, including multicultural-international competencies.

·        Coordinate program evaluation work University-wide, working in collaboration with Deans, Center Directors and Program Directors.

·        Oversee doctoral dissertation/project quality control activities  and supervise dissertation related work of campus Academic Affairs Coordinators where those positions exist.


 

This is a newly created position who will report to the Provost.



Requirements:

·        Earned doctorate in one of the academic areas within the University.

·        Experience with program evaluation, quality assurance and teaching effectiveness in higher education.

·        Collaborative leadership style and proven team player.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills.

·        Excellent communication skills

·        Success with multi-disciplinary projects/programs



Status: Half-time, Exempt

Salary: Depending upon experience

Available: Begins September 1, 2008 (Preferred but negotiable)
