Title: Information Technology Coordinator

Department: Information Technology

Reports To: Director of Network Operations and Technical Support

Hours: 9:00 AM- 5:00PM

Summary:

The Information Technology Coordinator, under the general direction of the Director of Network Operations and Technical Support, requires a keen, operative, and current knowledge of all aspects of computer software, hardware, and networking technology.  S/he is responsible for problem evaluation, trouble-shooting, and resolution.  S/he must be able to keep abreast of all major changes, trends, and issues in the IT industry and be able to advise departments and individuals on how best to utilize their technology assets.   

 

The successful candidate will be dedicated to providing high quality service to all constituencies of Alliant University. S/he will exhibit the highest professional standards and ethical principles and will be committed to the tenets of Alliant University’s Mission and Vision.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. On-Location computer and peripheral problem resolution and user assistance.

 

  1. Computer and peripheral repairs, installations, upgrades, and software installations.

 

  1. Student assistance / Email system support / Login related issue resolution.

 

  1. Monitor and assist with trouble ticket resolution in IT Helpdesk.

 

  1. Answer phone calls, assist users remotely using network utilities.

 

  1. Network troubleshooting and repair.

 

  1. Support for IP based phone system.

 

  1. Videoconference scheduling, equipment maintenance and end-user support.

 

  1. Inventory tracking of technology assets.

 

  1. Provide weekly and as needed technology support for the Sacramento campus.

 

  1. Compile and create where necessary campus documentation for IT policy and procedures.

 

  1. Participation in Information Technology department and related meetings.


Requirements:

Education:

 

BA or BS in related industry or five years field experience in a hands-on Information Technology position.

 

 

 

Experience:

 

 

Five years field experience in a hands-on Information Technology position.

 

Management Skills:

 

 

Must be able to communicate effectively with student assistants. Ability to account for tasks and actions of student employees and work with associated departments related to hiring and funding of employee. Deal with outside vendors for problem resolution.

 

Supervises:

 

May be responsible for 0 – 2 student assistants

 

Technical Skills:

 

Highly functional knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems, Microsoft desktop applications and related hardware.

 

Technology Skills:

 

 

Proficient in use, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of  Desktop Computers, Networking Devices, Computer Peripherals, Hand-Held Computers, Laptop Computers, Servers, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Office XP, SPSS, Anti-Virus Software, Testing Equipment, Software/Hardware Repair Utilities, Data Recovery Software, Internet Queries, Routers, Hubs, Switches, Phone Systems and Videoconference Equipment

 

Other Requirements:

 

 

Must be able to work directly with students, faculty, and staff under sometimes stressful situations. Must be able to travel 100+ miles, lift 50+ pounds, move desks, and haul equipment both locally and regionally.



Status: Full-time, Exempt
