The Assistant Director under the general direction of the Director of Professional Training has the responsibility and oversight for the Professional Practicum and Internship Training Program, which places over 50 students per academic year in practicum and on full-time internship training assignments, in support of more than five (5) academic graduate programs. The positions perform supervisory management for the Office of Professional Training, providing assistance to the Director, and acting on behalf of the Director in his/her absence. The position assists in developing annual operating plans; developing polices and procedures, networking and developing new practicum and internship sites. Overseeing the training sites and conducting site visits, evaluating site locations, consulting, advising and placing students, preparing correspondence on behalf of students, making presentation at student orientations and public appearances, making decisions, and resolving conflict in collaboration with the Professional Training Director. Assignments require the performance of managerial, supervisory and professional work in support of the academic program. The position ensures the administrative continuity with the Office of Professional Training and performs the day-today consulting, advising and assignments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning:
Assist in department and campus planning and to ensure that the department annual Goals and Objectives are meet.
- Budget:
Assist in budget expense monitoring in a support capacity.
- Supervision:
The Assistant Director must provide a G3 third year level Supervision Group to certify and approve G3 student eligibility for internship.
He/she, is responsible for indirect reports (staff, faculty, students) advising and consulting regarding clinical training policies, procedures and operations.
- Licensing Compliance:
Ensures that all state licensing requirements are meet in all agencies placements.
- Policy Administration:
The Assistant Director interprets, review and explain CSPP-Fresno’s and CAS Forensic curriculum and goals to the agencies to ensure that the field placement experiences are directed toward the student’s training needs. Participate in staff meetings with department management on a regular basis throughout the academic year.
- Orientation Responsibilities:
Plans and participates in the orientation of new students to the field placement process.
- Student Consulting/Advisement:
Responsible for effectively meeting, planning and advises students in the placement process for the Ecosystemic, Neuropsychology, Health proficiency and Forensic areas. Counsels students in selection of practicum and internship site choices and resolves problems or difficulties encountered. Assists and monitors the coordination of full-time internship program. Be available to respond throughout the academic year to any questions, concerns or problems raised by a student or supervisor.
- Agency Responsibilities:
Responsible for effectively developing and monitoring, practicum and internship agency sites with duties to include:
a) Recordkeeping:
Ensure accurate and up-to date agency handbook with name, addresses, current contacts.
b) Site Visits:
Making regular site visits to over 100 agencies minimally once each academic year while the student is working at the placement site; which includes a half-day visit with appropriate staff and clinician; facility tour; preview of student-supervisor relationships.
c) Evaluation:
Ensures that written student evaluations are received by CSPP and CFS at the end of each semester in a timely manner. Assess and evaluates the placement experience from both student viewpoint and agency viewpoint; providing a written report on each agency site visit and evaluation. Works with the Agency Supervisor on any significant changes that may affect the students training; to resolve problems or concerns around the student’s field site performance.
- New Agency Development: Plans, coordinates and develops new placement sites for students by making contacts with local agencies, meeting with directors, send out CSPP and CAS public relations information, providing a written report on agencies contacted, prospects and probabilities
- Student Evaluations; Responsible for effectively evaluating student academic progress, discussing clinical progress and training goals, reviewing of each student’s written agency evaluations and assignment of grades and credit.
