Title: Psychological Services Center Director

Department: CALIFORNIA SCHOOL OF PROFESIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

Reports To: CSPP Associate Dean

Summary:

The Director of the Psychological Services Center (PSC), under the general direction of the Associate Dean of CSPP will manage the clinic budget, supervises clinic staff and be  responsible for the day to day functioning of the PSC, including the provision of doctoral level  field training experience for practicum and intern students. The PSC director will secure and/or participate in securing, negotiating and managing service contracts. The successful candidate will be a licensed clinical psychologist and have experience in mental health administration in a public clinic and/or a minimum of 5 years post-doctoral work experience in a community mental health or public clinic setting.   The ideal candidate will also have experience teaching and supervising doctoral level students and experience working with low income, ethnically diverse populations, preferably in a community mental health or public clinic setting. 

 Candidates should be familiar with California state licensure regulations and requirements, APA internship requirements, and have excellent management, budgetary, and interpersonal skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        The PSC Director has oversight responsibility for seeing to the day to day running of the PSC (service delivery and field training programs).

 

  • Administers Pre-Doctoral Internship and Practicum Program.

 

·        Manages and monitors the PSC budget in concert with the CSPP finance accountant and the CSPP Associate Dean.

 

·        Assist and works with the grant writing department and other CSPP/University entities and individuals in the securing of grants and contracts.

 

·        Collaborates with and acts as a liaison to the Clinical and other campus based Programs (as appropriate) and the Office of Professional training in the planning and delivery of student field training experiences.

 

·        Hires, supervises, and evaluates PSC staff.

 

·        Facilitates outreach and engages in program development within the University and externally with community based organizations, agencies and schools.

 



Requirements:

Education:

 

PhD, PSYD or EdD  in psychology or a closely related field.

 

Professional Designation:

Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of California.

 

Experience:

 

5 years experience in Public Clinic setting required.

Management Skills:

 

Excellent initiative, time management, and proven follow-through skills. Good supervisory skills both of staff and students. Budget management skills.

 

Supervises:

All Clinic staff report directly or indirectly to the PSC Director.

 

Technical Skills:

Good interpersonal, phone, writing, and problem-solving skills. Has a well developed area of clinical expertise and program evaluation and development skills.

 

Technology Skills:

 

Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel. 

Other Requirements:

 

Ability to work in a cooperative and service oriented manner with faculty, staff, and other University administrators. Possess a vision and commitment to quality service delivery and education and training. Be sensitive and committed to service to the underserved.  Be able to establish and maintain collaborative and productive relationships and partnerships with community based organizations, service agencies, and schools. Possess excellent leadership and problem solving skills.
