University Student Center In San Diego, the student government organizations, Sodexho (food and facilities management), and the University are working together to create a new space at the San Diego campus: a University Student Center that should open in early 2008.
These three groups have developed a plan to remodel the current Lion’s Den snack bar area (1,600 square feet) to be an indoor/outdoor wireless café that can serve as a hub for students, faculty, and staff to gather, relax, and break bread, creating and connecting a more vibrant Alliant community.
The plan for this space includes remodeling the bathrooms for ADA access and improving the lighting. New interior and exterior wall and floor coverings, tables and chairs, soft seating, patio furniture and internet access will be installed. A gracious patio will invite people into the Center, by connecting seamlessly with the gardens that students and staff have developed on the southeast corner on the campus.
As we proceed with this project, we are building a strong alliance among the student governments, the University, and Sodexho. Students, faculty and staff have expressed enthusiasm and thanks for this new space and for the contribution it will make to the future of the San Diego campus.
We invite you to be a part of this new University Student Center the next time you are on campus. | |
