Children in our constantly changing, complex society enter the school environment with a host of unique needs. Educational psychology doctoral program students select six focus area courses to research and develop specialty areas of expertise. Popular focus areas include:
- Adolescent stress, coping and resilience
- Multicultural counseling
- Pediatric psychology
- Infant and preschool mental health, including assessment and intervention
- Child neuropsychology
- Provision of services for children and adolescents in alternative placements
DOCTORATE IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
- Offered on the following campuses: San Diego, Los Angeles, Irvine and San Francisco
- 50 units
- 10-unit pre-doctoral internship (optional)
- A cohort model with admission each Fall semester
- Full program completion in three years
- Late afternoon, evening and/or weekend classes for working professionals
- Low student-to-faculty ratio

- Trimester format with Fall, Spring and Summer terms
- Los Angeles, Irvine and San Diego Cohorts: Weekday evening course format

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- A valid PPS credential in School Psychology

- Two letters of recommendation from supervisors, academic instructors, volunteer coordinators or other professional and/or academic relationships
- CV/Resume
- 5-7 page personal essay including autobiographical statement, professional aspirations, accomplishments and any relevant experience working with children and adolescents
- Official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from a regionally-accredited university(degrees in progress are acceptable) with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (GPA exemptions may be granted)
