Graduate Certificate in School-Based Mental Health | School Psychology Program | San Francisco, San Diego, Irvine and Los Angeles, California
Alliant offers a Graduate Certificate program in School-Based Mental Health designed to provide master's level practitioners with the education, training and exposure necessary to conduct culturally-informed counseling within K-12 schools. The program and its faculty recognize that school environments require a specific knowledge base and professional practice for professionals to best provide effective student mental health services, including brief, short-term, group and individual counseling.
The philosophy at the foundation of this certificate program emanates from the National Association of School Psychologists' (NASP) conceptualization of school-based mental health. School-based mental health focuses primarily on:
- Building skills
- Assessing deficits
- Preventing problems
- Nurturing strengths among culturally and ethnically diverse preschoolers, school-age children and adolescents
Prospective applicants to Alliant's school-based mental health graduate certificate program may include school psychologists, school counselors, MFTs and LCSWs.
