Master of Arts in Education in Teaching with International Emphasis
A PROGRAM TAILOR-MADE FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATORS
Our M.A.E. in Teaching with an international emphasis is designed for the professional practitioner serving in international schools as a teacher or administrator. The program combines the needs of these practitioners with the latest research and best practices in education and international schools. The curriculum is infused with rich international and multicultural content that emphasizes student achievement within diverse populations, as well as instructional technology, data-driven assessment and critical thinking skills. Our program is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
ADVANCE YOURSELF AND YOUR SCHOOL
At the core of our program is a cohort structure offering mentoring and collaboration among professional colleagues. The goal of each cohort is not only personal and professional development, but also the advancement of the cohort’s school through targeted projects and initiatives. And throughout your studies, our experienced faculty will guide you, drawing upon their own great successes within international schools.
LEARN ONLINE WITH THE SUPPORT OF A PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY
The program’s coursework is 100% online and consists of 30 units. Cohort groups within the same designated region are formed as a professional learning community. These academic communities are assigned a regional program coordinator who meets monthly with students to facilitate degree progress, course sequencing and study groups to best meet the cohort’s shared needs and the needs of their schools. Transfer credit is available by individual request.
CONSIDER A CALIFORNIA TEACHING CREDENTIAL
The Hufstedler School of Education offers international educators the opportunity to earn a California Teaching Credential should they ever wish to teach domestically within the state. The credential program is available in multiple or single subjects, and includes online coursework, a practicum experience at the student's international teaching site (or partner school site), and a nine-week student teaching residency at a California school site.
