For The Community
We believe in giving back--locally and globally
Strong relationships with local communities are at the heart of Alliant’s mission. We are proud that, each year, Alliant students contribute over 1 million hours of community service as part of their professional training through internships, practica and professional training. Many of our students continue to serve the communities they trained in - long after graduation.
At the core of our values at Alliant is “giving back”. Through our education, research and service, we help people live, learn and work better in communities around the globe. Our work touches nearly every major institution in society—health care, schools, business and industry, government, non-profits and the legal system and our curricula and research are relevant to today’s realities and are centered on real issues in the real world.
Students, faculty and staff in each of our campuses participate actively in volunteerism and community outreach through organized fundraising (ie, special causes, disaster relief), awareness-building educational events and community service projects.
Every year, Alliant sponsors a university-wide food drive to help address the growing national and international crisis of food insecurity. It also participates in the National Make a Difference Day, sponsored by USA Weekend Magazine, by organizing its own Alliant Makes a Difference Day. This day of service is a voluntary activity that both offers the opportunity for those who want to do more in their community and celebrates those on our campus who already do so much for their communities. It’s an opportunity to integrate three of Alliant’spillars—professional practice, community engagement, and international and multicultural competence.
