
Admissions Requirements - Alliant School of Management
The Alliant School of Management (ASM) admissions criteria vary depending on the program and level of studies. Requirements are designed to measure the qualities and capabilities required of a professional in the field to which the student is applying as reflected in the applicant's academic ability, academic preparation, and other personal and non-academic factors.
In addition to the supplementary requirements of the program, the following are University-wide admissions requirements.

Admissions Criteria: BS Business Administration

| English Language Proficiency | English language proficiency must be demonstrated by applicants not previously educated in English. Minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper/213 computer/80 internet or equivalent. |
Graduate Admissions
All completed applications are reviewed by an admissions committee in the program. For most programs, an in-person interview is required. While applicants are selected for entrance to ASM Graduate Programs on the basis of their composite applications, the following items are essential components of the admissions decision.
Admissions Criteria: San Diego MBA
| Bachelor's Degree | A four-year baccalaureate degree or equivalent from an accredited university. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required. |
| GMAT or Interview | A competitive score from an exam taken within five years (official score required
for consideration) OR An interview is undertaken once all other admissions documentation is received. The purpose of the interview is to assess the candidate's abilities and background, as well as his/her motivation for wanting to complete the MBA program. |

| Essay | A personal statement, based around the following topics (do not exceed more than 250
words per topic): - Describe one of your professional accomplishments and how it impacted the company you work for; - Describe a challenging professional situation, how you handled it and what you wish you would have done differently; - What are your post-graduate school objectives? How will a graduate degree assist you in achieving these goals? |

| Master's Degree | A master's degree in business, management or related field from an accredited institution with established and recognized programs in business and management. A minimum graduate GPA of 3.0 is required. |
| Recommendations | Three written confidential recommendations from those who can attest to the applicant’s abilities, interests, and proven accomplishments in education. |

| Essay | A two page personal essay describing the following is required: the professional organizations to which you belong; honors, activities and other accomplishments; and a brief autobiographical statement including future professional plans |

| Essay | 6-7 pages, typed double-spaced. The essay should include the following topics: A. Describe your personal objectives in applying to the PhD in Leadership Program. Also discuss why you are attracted to studying at Alliant. B. Write a brief autobiographical sketch, highlighting your leadership experience in general. C. In a few paragraphs, focus in detail on one specific, important leadership experience in your career. Describe the situation you faced, your actions, the results of your leadership, and any lessons you learned about leadership and/or yourself. D. Although we recognize that your specific areas of interest may change over the course of your training, please describe a research topic related to leadership that you might like to explore during your studies at Alliant. Please be as specific as possible. |
