Los Angeles Library
Students and faculty at Alliant’s Los Angeles Library have access to a variety of electronic indexes and databases, many of which include full-text articles and books. Databases such as Academic Search Premier, Business Source Complete and PsycINFO are available on public-access computers in the Library and may be searched, via the Web, from students' homes and offices. Materials that are not owned by Alliant are available through LINK+ and interlibrary loan. Library users are allowed to use other participating LINK+ libraries directly through the visiting patron program.
Alliant librarians are available to:
- answer reference questions in person, by email, and over the telephone
- orient new students on library resources, policies and procedures, and principles of information competence
- tutor students (individually and in groups) about information resources and the intricacies of database searching
- provide customized class presentations on specialized topics such as locating measuring instruments for dissertation research and psychometric information about them
- provide individual research consultations (by appointment) to assist students and faculty in performing comprehensive literature searches on a particular topic for their dissertations, doctoral projects, journal articles, book chapters, etc.
- develop print and electronic research guides on various topics and databases
- and select books and other materials for the library’s collection to meet the unique research needs of Alliant students.
