I-MERIT at Alliant
Alliant’s International and Multicultural Education, Research, Intervention, and Training Initiative provides leadership in the implementation of the University’s diversity initiatives. Alliant has established institutional diversity objectives as well as multicultural/international competencies for all students, faculty, and staff/administrators.
The Systemwide I-MERIT Office provides resources, consultation, and training to academic programs and administrative offices in order to make cultural competence part and parcel of all aspects of the University. Each campus has an I-MERIT Committee, comprised of students, staff, and faculty, which sponsors events and projects. The work of I-MERIT is supported by an Associate Provost and an Associate Director. In addition, a Director of the Latino Achievement Initiative focuses on outreach to the Latino community and the creation of a Latino-friendly university. The Interim Associate Provost of I-MERIT is Dr. Sheila Henderson, who is based on the San Francisco Campus, and is available at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I-MERIT is proud that the Los Angeles Clinical PsyD program received the APA Suinn Minority Achievement Award at the 2010 APA Convention.
